Lecture – Herbs and Witchcraft

1 May, 2014 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

£8

Julie Wakefield will be looking at the facts behind the fiction in herbs and Witchcraft. The writings of two 17th century herbalists provide fascinating sources of evidence. One tells how people at this time believed witches were using plants. The other gives actual first-hand accounts of how they were used magically, which are both surprising and strange. This lecture explores these and other ritual uses of plants.

The Museums Service organise a regular first Thursday of the month lecture. These take place at Verulamium Museum at 7:30pm, the cost is £8.
