Secretary required for St Albans Civic Society

4 February, 2016 @ 8:00 am - 31 March, 2016 @ 12:00 pm

The St Albans Civic Society is looking for a volunteer to act as Secretary.

Founded in 1961 and part of the nation-wide civic society movement, the Society is a registered charity, a non party-political and non religious organisation, ready to welcome everyone who cares about the future of St Albans.
Often referred to as the ‘City’s Watchdogs’, the Civic Society is the conservation and amenity movement for St Albans, and a member of the national organisation Civic Voice.

The Society’s Committee normally meets once each month in the evening (except for August). The Committee consists of the Hon President, Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Hon. Treasurer, Secretary and a separate Minutes Secretary, and seven other members.

The role of the Secretary has evolved over a period of time and covers a wide-range of organisational activities where the Secretary takes the lead, but has the support and help of the other members, such as:

  • help identify and book speakers for Speaker’s evenings;
  • booking the room for meetings;
  • being a general contact point, receiving emails from the website and forwarding to the appropriate member or replying.

If you are well-organised, have some spare time and would like to be involved with the St Albans Civic Society, we should welcome your engagement as Secretary, please contact;

The Chairman, Tim Boatswain; email: [email protected]; ‘phone: 07873586074
