On 25 March 2017 over 1000 people attended the Ultimate Civic Disco at the Alban Arena in St Albans. The evening featured live music from popular local bands Soulfish & 2-Tone and over £6,000 was raised in support of the new museum and gallery!
A series of events are taking place in 2017/2018 to mark the 50th anniversary of the Civic Disco at The Alban Arena in St Albans. The original Civic Disco ran weekly from 1968 throughout the 70s and was a popular part of the local nightlife.
The events are being organised by Graham Kentsley, an entrepreneur whose career in entertainment began with DJing at the Civic Disco in St Albans and around the district in the 70s. He says, “The Civic Disco was always an important part of St Albans’ vibrant live music scene and it was an important part of my life. That’s why I’m excited to be organising these events celebrating 50 years at the Alban Arena.”
Save the date – The next Ultimate Civic Disco will take place on the 25th November 2017 at the Alban Arena with all proceeds going towards the St Albans Museums and Galleries Trust.
